NY Day 3 & 4: Seeing ALL the sights!

Day 3 was our Itinerary was jammed packed! We wanted to see as much as possible. So this post will be EXTREMELY picture heavy! Sit back grab your coffee/tea or whatever and enjoy!

    Our Hostess with the Most-est: Andrea and her BFF our Terrific Tour Guide: Lynda.    Onboard the LIR (long island railroad) making our way to Penn Station THE BEST WAFFLE I HAVE EVER EVER EVER TASTED! All the ladies voted this as the #1 Restaurant we dinned in during our trip! Definitely going back soon!   I’ve always wanted to hail a Taxi like Carrie used to do on Sex in the City.                                                               

After checking out the Historic Apollo Theater, we got on the train and ended up at Central Park. We walked a bit through it and ended at 5th Avenue. Walked down 5th Ave and stopped at Rockefeller Center.

We planned to visit the Empire State Building Observatory but the Top of Rock guy suggested we visit it’s Observatory instead to actually see the ESB. Good call! MUST DO!

Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream @ a Ben & Jerry’s store! (Yes, I had dessert before dinner-don’t judge me!) Time for a late lunch/dinner @ BBQ’s Restaurant.  The chicken was perfect, not at all dry and very delicious! This was the 2nd best restaurant for me!

The Madame Tussauds Wax Museum was fun. Love the Edward Cullen figure. If these are made true to life a lot of celebrities are REALLY little. Lady Gaga-TINY, Justin B.-itty bitty, Prince-teensy weensy.

After a full day and I mean FULL! We had one more stop. We went back to Andrea’s first to get gussied up to go to Caroline’s Comedy Club. Headlining that night was Paul Mooney. He was okay- I wouldn’t go see him again though. But in all the trip was AMAZING! We had the time of our lives. I’m going back in October but this time with The Hubs and kiddo’s-this will be an adventure. On our “to see” list….The Statue of Liberty, M&M’s store, Museum of Natural History, CP Zoo, and maybe Coney Island.

Pink-a-palooza!

That is what it feels like at my house right about now. Pookie Doo’s birthday is less than a month away but party planning began a few months back . Just wanted to give you a sneak peak @ one of the pink-a-licious crafts! I’m adore almost anything ruffle-y.I am absolutely loving how all of the homemade décor is coming out! ((CHEESIN’)). The party is going to be very small, just her and 5-6 friends so I’m trying not to go tooooo overboard! Wish me luck!

New York Day 2: Junior’s, Scrappin’ & Seafood!

So on Friday day 2 we planned to have breakfast at the famous Juniors Restaurant. They are famous for their cheesecakes! We went for breakfast AND Cheesecake to go!

After breakfast we did a little shopping on Fulton Street. I got a few things but the best deal was Munchkins purple belt for $2!!! Then we headed back to pick up Mika from the train station in Long Island. She was arriving from Boston!

Once we got Mika, we headed out to Andrea’s LSS (local scrapbook store) The Scrapper’s Playground! Really great store, well stocked and friendly staff! They also have a nice crop room. None of us left the store empty handed!

After a few more shops we headed out to our dinner. Andrea made reservations at The Fishery, the plan for  was to eat out on the deck but due to a nasty storm that swooped thru we  had to dine inside. The food was soooooo good!

So after dinner we made our way back to Andrea’s to chillax, watch a movie and have DESSERT! We all ordered different flavors of cheesecake so we shared! Then we crashed to get rested for day 3!

Kitchen Table *Refinish*

Hello Friends...I know my blogging has been mostly non-existent for the past couple of months BUT summer is here and so much is going on. I have a laundry list of DIY's and To Do's I wanted to get done before it get's too cold outside. I think I'm back on track. Meet our kitchen table-ugly thing! We got it and four chairs from a friend of a friend way back when….I hated it then but kept it because I ran a home daycare business and didn’t mind the kids destroying it because I had plans to buy a new set.

After much thinking and browsing I decided to keep our old table and give her a facelift. I was inspired by several blogs that have similar tables and have repainted theirs.

I took the top and bottom apart. I sanded the bottom down to it’s bare wood and tried to do the same to the top but it was too much work. I used a stain stripper, I sprayed it on and in 15 minutes it was stripping the rest of the stain right off!

 

It was an ooey gooey mess! NASTY!

As I stripped and cleaned the top, I’d begun priming and spray painting the pedestal. I wanted to go with a deep plum color but The Hubbs couldn’t see my vision and wanted black like I’d showed him from the blogs. I used Hi-Gloss.

Look at it shine! I used a pecan stain and poly in 1 for the top. Now all that’s left to do is find new chairs our old ones are busted!
