A Pinkalicious Soiree!

You may remember back when my oldest turned 11 and I showed you her Hollywood Themed Party. After her party my then 6 year informed me she wanted a pink birthday party. “EVERYTHING has to be PINK Mommy”. So I got to Google-ing!
We used one of her favorite books, Pinkalicious for inspiration. For food we had the Pinkalicious cupcake (of course), finger sandwiches in the shapes of stars, hearts, and scalloped circle, pink candy & sprinkle dipped marshmallows, Oreo cookie’s with pink cream middles (lucked up on those), pink gumballs, pink fruit dip and fruit, and my favorite PINK deviled eggs!

All of the decorations were hand made. I started in May!

Are those pink filled Oreo’s the best thing you’ve ever seen! I almost screamed with excitement when I saw them in the grocery store. My original plan was to buy the blonde ones and dip them in pink chocolate.

All the girls’ got their own pink tutu, wings, pearls, and tiara’s.

They played –Pin the cherry on the cupcake-

Sissy & her friends read them the Pinkalicious Story.

They played -Cookie Face- you have to put a cookie on your forehead and try to get it into your mouth without using your hands.

Sister and her friends were a HUGE help, they took care of the party guests so I could be free to take pictures.

Sissy was so excited to help, she made cupcake shaped name tags for herself and her friends. They painted each of the girls nails.

After all of the presents were opened, belly’s full of cupcakes and ice cream, and all the games had been played. They ran around blowing bubbles. Pookie Doo said it was the best Birthday Party EVER! (She say’s that after every party).

NY Day 3 & 4: Seeing ALL the sights!

Day 3 was our Itinerary was jammed packed! We wanted to see as much as possible. So this post will be EXTREMELY picture heavy! Sit back grab your coffee/tea or whatever and enjoy!

Our Hostess with the Most-est: Andrea and her BFF our Terrific Tour Guide: Lynda. Onboard the LIR (long island railroad) making our way to Penn Station THE BEST WAFFLE I HAVE EVER EVER EVER TASTED! All the ladies voted this as the #1 Restaurant we dinned in during our trip! Definitely going back soon! I’ve always wanted to hail a Taxi like Carrie used to do on Sex in the City.

After checking out the Historic Apollo Theater, we got on the train and ended up at Central Park. We walked a bit through it and ended at 5th Avenue. Walked down 5th Ave and stopped at Rockefeller Center.

We planned to visit the Empire State Building Observatory but the Top of Rock guy suggested we visit it’s Observatory instead to actually see the ESB. Good call! MUST DO!

Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream @ a Ben & Jerry’s store! (Yes, I had dessert before dinner-don’t judge me!) Time for a late lunch/dinner @ BBQ’s Restaurant. The chicken was perfect, not at all dry and very delicious! This was the 2nd best restaurant for me!

The Madame Tussauds Wax Museum was fun. Love the Edward Cullen figure. If these are made true to life a lot of celebrities are REALLY little. Lady Gaga-TINY, Justin B.-itty bitty, Prince-teensy weensy.

After a full day and I mean FULL! We had one more stop. We went back to Andrea’s first to get gussied up to go to Caroline’s Comedy Club. Headlining that night was Paul Mooney. He was okay- I wouldn’t go see him again though. But in all the trip was AMAZING! We had the time of our lives. I’m going back in October but this time with The Hubs and kiddo’s-this will be an adventure. On our “to see” list….The Statue of Liberty, M&M’s store, Museum of Natural History, CP Zoo, and maybe Coney Island.

Pink-a-palooza!

That is what it feels like at my house right about now. Pookie Doo’s birthday is less than a month away but party planning began a few months back . Just wanted to give you a sneak peak @ one of the pink-a-licious crafts! I’m adore almost anything ruffle-y.I am absolutely loving how all of the homemade décor is coming out! ((CHEESIN’)). The party is going to be very small, just her and 5-6 friends so I’m trying not to go tooooo overboard! Wish me luck!

New York Day 2: Junior’s, Scrappin’ & Seafood!

So on Friday day 2 we planned to have breakfast at the famous Juniors Restaurant. They are famous for their cheesecakes! We went for breakfast AND Cheesecake to go!

After breakfast we did a little shopping on Fulton Street. I got a few things but the best deal was Munchkins purple belt for $2!!! Then we headed back to pick up Mika from the train station in Long Island. She was arriving from Boston!

Once we got Mika, we headed out to Andrea’s LSS (local scrapbook store) The Scrapper’s Playground! Really great store, well stocked and friendly staff! They also have a nice crop room. None of us left the store empty handed!

After a few more shops we headed out to our dinner. Andrea made reservations at The Fishery, the plan for was to eat out on the deck but due to a nasty storm that swooped thru we had to dine inside. The food was soooooo good!

So after dinner we made our way back to Andrea’s to chillax, watch a movie and have DESSERT! We all ordered different flavors of cheesecake so we shared! Then we crashed to get rested for day 3!

Kitchen Table Refinish

Hello Friends...I know my blogging has been mostly non-existent for the past couple of months BUT summer is here and so much is going on. I have a laundry list of DIY's and To Do's I wanted to get done before it get's too cold outside. I think I'm back on track. Meet our kitchen table-ugly thing! We got it and four chairs from a friend of a friend way back when….I hated it then but kept it because I ran a home daycare business and didn’t mind the kids destroying it because I had plans to buy a new set.

After much thinking and browsing I decided to keep our old table and give her a facelift. I was inspired by several blogs that have similar tables and have repainted theirs.

I took the top and bottom apart. I sanded the bottom down to it’s bare wood and tried to do the same to the top but it was too much work. I used a stain stripper, I sprayed it on and in 15 minutes it was stripping the rest of the stain right off!

It was an ooey gooey mess! NASTY!

As I stripped and cleaned the top, I’d begun priming and spray painting the pedestal. I wanted to go with a deep plum color but The Hubbs couldn’t see my vision and wanted black like I’d showed him from the blogs. I used Hi-Gloss.

Look at it shine! I used a pecan stain and poly in 1 for the top. Now all that’s left to do is find new chairs our old ones are busted!

New York City Day 1

*** WARNING** This post is heavy on the pictures! LOTS N LOTS of photo’s!

The weekend after the 4th of July, I had the pleasure of spending 4 days with 5 my scrappy friends in one of the greatest city’s on earth(at least in my opinion)! NEW YORK, NEW YORK! It all started when we were talking about getting together for a weekend to crop. I knew no one would scrap just a lot of talking so I suggested we plan a “Something to scrap about weekend”. They all thought it was a great idea and it became even sweeter when Andrea offered to host us at her house in Long Beach, NY!

So I boarded the Amtrak(my first train ride) headed for NY…I could hardly stand the excitement, I thought I was gonna be able to sleep for the ride but no luck. Due to the fact that I get motion woozy (I don’t call it sickness because that implies that I actually throw up). I couldn’t wait to get off that train.

2.5 hours later I arrived at my final destination. At first I almost missed the Penn Station stop because the sign at the Station says Pennsylvania Station and I almost didn’t put 2 n 2 together. Luckily I asked another passenger!

Outside it was just as I imagined. Lots of lights, people going here and there, sirens, horns and Taxi cabs everywhere! New York at night was so exciting. We drove to her house,I unloaded my bags, had a tour of her amazing house, and then we went to a diner for some food @ 1:00am!

This is Andrea’s house. A 1920’s craftsman's style home. YES, the inside is just as detailed and beautiful as the outside. Did I mention she lives four blocks from the beach?

We got up extra early to go pick Barb up from the airport. Barb had the farthest commute. She came in from Blythewood, SC!

First we parked Andrea’s car and boarded the E train to the World Trade Center. For the rest of the day I’ll let the pictures do the the talking!

We dipped in and out of stores in and around times square until it was time to meet Tamika! She came in from Philly!

Happy Birthday Hubbs (belated post)

The Hubbs Birthday was early in May and I totally forgot to post about the absolutely insanely delicious birthday cake that I made for him. His favorite is Red Velvet. We both LOVE the Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake at The Cheesecake Factory. I can bake Red Velvet Cake and I can bake a cheesecake-how hard could it be to put the two together? Not hard at all-just really time consuming!

But sooooo worth the time and effort! I started this cake at around 6ish and here is The Hubbs blowing out the candles at around 11ish! You may be wondering about the candles, I goofed and got an 8 instead of a 9! Dork move on my part! But I used 9 singles instead (hehehe)

Doesn’t that look delicious?!! I didn’t feel like shaving white chocolate so I took a short cut and used white chocolate chips. Both cakes (cheese and red) were made from scratch.

Rosie Pink Monogramed Pillow

Well I’m making much progress on Pookie Doo’s Pinkalicious room makeover. I am almost ready for the big reveal in a couple of weeks. I can’t wait to share it with you all. But until then here is a pillow I just completed for her bed. I got the pillow idea from Beth at Stories from A to Z. She used ruffled ribbon, I used a ribbon of roses. I love her blog, tons of cool tips, tricks, and ideas. Okay so here’s the pillow!

I used leftover fluff, a travel pillow cover I think it was about $2 and pink rose ribbon from Hobby Lobby I got it 50% OFF! SCORE! The iron on transfer paper I already had.

The finished pillow complete with rosie ruffles and Pookie Doo’s initials. I didn’t get the pink letters to match the roses as well as I wanted but I couldn’t waste the ink!

Enchiladas ::Reicpe::

Before learning to make Enchilada's the right way, I thought the kind you make from the Old El Paso box kit were the BOMB! I was having a conversation with a friend and some of her family of whom are Mexican and can cook their faces off! Her Mom makes this potato salad-Oh eM Geee!

It's so good....ok ok back to enchiladas.....I explained to them how I made Enchiladas and they had a good laugh. The next day my neighbor bought over a plate of REAL enchiladas. Folks when I tell you it was an tastebud party going on in my mouth- no lie. She'd bought over enough for me to share w/ the Hubbs but for some reason when he got home from work I couldn't remember where I'd put it. Darn kids musta got to it! Needless to say, I have never bought another Old El Paso Box Kit!! I ~~hounded and begged~~ asked her for the recipe and of course it's one of those "I don't know the measurement" type of situations. I told her just gimme' the ingredients, basic instructions and I'll make it do what it do!

Though I no longer buy the box kits the canned green enchilada sauce works great!

Fry your corn tortillas until brown, they will pucker and swell and that’s okay.

First put down a layer of tortillas. I always make them in my Pampered Chef Rectangle Baker

It’s AWESOME!

Layer of shredded chicken breast and on top of that, a layer of Muenster cheese.

You’ll do this twice.

So tortillas, chicken, cheese,onions, tortilla's, chicken, cheese....got it?

For the top layer I put just a layer of tortilla’s and more cheese!

Ingredients:
3 Cans Green Enchilada sauce (small cans or 2 large ones)
2 packs of Chicken Breast or any type of chicken meat (I guess about 3 - 3.5 lbs)
1 1/2 pound Muenster Cheese or 2 precut packages
1 small/med onion
18 corn tortillas
Cooking Oil
Sour Cream (optional)
Directions:
Put chicken in a pot with LOTS of seasoning and enough water to boil the chicken. Cook until completely done.
Fry tortilla's until they are brown on both sides your pan till browned on both sides.
Saute Onion
Using two forks shred all of the chicken
Pour all of your enchilada sauce into a large shallow bowl
Dip your tortilla's in the sauce and layer
I add my onions to the middle layer or you can mix it with the chicken throughout
Once your done layering cover with aluminum foil and bake at about 350 degrees for around 20-25 minutes.

Spring!

Okay so I couldn’t think of a fancy smancy title for this post. I’m really not that clever. But I had to share a with you a few of the photos I took of my girls’ over the Easter holiday. They absolutely love when I grab my camera and say, “Let’s go out for a photo shoot”. It helped that we’d been watching an America’s Next Top Model Marathon too. I got great shots, they had a blast and we laughed the whole time.

What things come to mind when you think of Spring? For me it’s the beginning of finding some great stuff at yard sales and maybe hosting a couple of my own to get make room for the cool “new to me” stuff I find.

Munchkin has plans to open a lemonaid stand and sell jewelry. Pookie doo she just wants to be in charge of the money!

COOKOUTS/ BBQs!!! Yeaaaaaa Boi! I think we’re gonna be having one of these really soon. The Hubbs got a new ginorous grill late last summer and I know he can’t wait to fire it up! The girls’ and I call him The Grill SGT. I know, it’s korny but we don’t care-thppppppppft!

Outdoor projects. I have a couple in the line up: An armoir, dinning set, computer desk, and some picture frames for now. I don’t have a garage so I have to wait for great weather.

Last but not least ROAD TRIPS…living on the East Coast there are so many places to go and see. The best part is a lot of them can be done in just 1 day! So we get up early on a Saturday, pick a direction, and with our trusty Garmin Nuvi, we hit the road. Although the gas prices are really putting ???? on our road trips! UGH!

Carmely Apple Pie {recipe}

This is one of my favorite pies….easy to make and so yummy with French vanilla or vanilla bean ice cream. My apple recipe is from my Gran Gran who measures by, “a pinch of this, a dollop of that, and about a 1/2 cup of…” and I’ve learned to bake the same way. I can tell you what to use just not reeeeally how much-sorry, my bad!

When I first started baking I wanted to learn to make crusts from scratch,so I called my Gran Gran and asked her for the ingredients and her reply was, “Baby, I don’t know, every since I discovered Pillsbury I just use that”. Gran Gran’s Apple Pie’s are to die for! She bakes big GINORMOUS 15”x18” ones.

One of my favorite kitchen tools is this Apple Peeler/Corer/Slicer. Helps me and Gran Gran whip up pies in almost 1/2 the time.

Their handy dandy Baker's Roller is perfect for my pie making needs. I got to check to see if Gran Gran has one of these.

Mix in the sugars

and a little flour, then add apple mixture to your pie pan, top with Carmel and about 2.5 – 3 Tbsp. of butter.

After topping with your 2nd crust don’t forget to brush it with a little egg white/water mixture. Bake at 375 degrees until golden brown and when you tilt it no juices run out.

Ingredients:

3-4 Large Granny Smith Apples

I box Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust

1 tsp. lemon juice

About 1/2 C white sugar

About 1/2 C light brown sugar

1 TBS flour

2.5-3 TBS butter

2 TBS Carmel sauce

1/2 -3/4 TBS cinnamon

Fancied up Laundry Room

It’s true my The Hubbs thinks I’m a little CooCoo for decorating the laundry room but I was inspired by sooooo many of my bloggy friends and their neat spaces, I thought why not? Plus we were finally getting new appliances.

Like Thrifty Decor Chick's, KevinandAmanda's and this one.

I will admit I don’t necessarily LOVE doing the laundry but it’s one of those things that has to get done and why not do it in a pretty space!? So here’s the BEFORE:

Our old funky washer and dryer. See my sad 1/2 attempt to organize with those green bins I ~~stole~~ borrowed from The Pookie Doo. And now the AFTER:

See those curtains? They used to be in my living room, they were in “going in yard sale pile” but I thought they’d be perfect for this space. PLUS I’d be being thrifty cause I wouldn’t need to go BUY more fabric! *High FIVE*

So the baskets, I found at Walmart $6 bucks each. My first thought was to buy wooden letters for the LAUNDRY sign but I all ready had brown vinyl so I used it and my Cricut Expression to make the signs and tags. I all ready had the Mason jar and clothes pins. The frame was $3 @ Michaels. OH the washer and Dryer! Geez, what got a good deal from The Home Depot. They were all ready 15% off and we got an extra 15% OFF!

Since the new set is “energy efficient” and we had leftover “non-energy effiecient” laundry soap. I thought it’d make a cute decoration. The rug, it came from Wal-Mart and guess what!? It was on clearance $15 from $25. I consider that a splurge but it was on clearance.

I attached velcro to the other 1/2 of the curtain and to the shelf to hide the tool box and The Hubbs work boots. There is still a little work to do on the wall where our freezer is but I’ll get to that later.

We live in military housing so I wanted everything to be moveable. Had this been a home I owned, I’d probably gone for installing cabinets. But this works!

Remember my subway art thingy! There it is. Also scapped a little backyard clothes drying scene with my Creative Memories Everyday Display. That’s a pair of jeans, a towel and a dress.

Subway Style Wall Art

I’ve been seeing these subway art wall hangings all over the blogosphere. I decided a while ago I wanted to make one but couldn’t decide what kind or where to put it until……our dinosaur washer n dryer had finally pushed us to the limit and they had to go and I decided to pretty-up the our laundry room/closet/space er whatever.(more on the big redo later)

While at Michael’s looking at baskets for my laundry room/closet/space er whatever, I saw that the canvas’s were 50%- I love a sale! So I got one to attempt to make my own subway art.

I all ready had the die cut machine, paints, and vinyl so this was a $5 project! My kinda project!

I didn’t plan out where to put words. I just cut them out one at time and stuck em on the canvas. Turned out pretty good if I do say so myself! I’d like to mount it onto a darker piece of wood to make it really POP! We’ll see.

Under Construction

Recently I started thinking about this blog and the direction or lack of direction it was going. I have not been a very post heavy blogger. My goal was to do at least 4-6 posts a month. But working FT along with the long list of other things I do, I couldn't keep up. So I've decided to give it another go. But first up I want to give her a much needed face lift! So please excuse the mix-matchy mess that is going on right now as I try to figure out how to do it all myself! Today I followed a tutorial from Blissfully Domestic on how to make a Blog Header. I love how this one turned out but I do want to update it with more recent photos.

Spring will yah SPRING all ready!?

Last week we got a little bit of Spring! The temperature got up to about 70! It was sooooo nice outside the tree in front of my house of which I am still unsure as to what type it is- do you know?

There is one a cross the street that has light pink flowers. Cherry Blossoms? I don’t know! But what I do know is that Spring and it’s warm weather needs to come on- I got projects to do! You may remember last fall I got in full refinish/repaint/DIY mode! Well some projects ideas went undone. Here’s my list of to do’s:

Oh the very first thing is a yard sale! I got some great tips from The Nester that I plan to use. SHOW ME THE MONEY!!

Repaint Kitchen Table set
Find and most likely repaint: Full side headboard, buffet table and dresser. The Hubbs has become quite the Craigslist guru. I show him a pic and he finds it!
Refinish Pookie Doo’s bedroom furniture to match her Pink and White Desk.

I know my list will grow but as we are limited on space here in military housing, it will not get too long.

Retreat…Retreat!

Two weekends ago for the 2nd time I attended the Crop Cirlces Srapbooking Retreat in Bedford, PA! Gorgeous coutryside..that I didn’t take time to go out and shoot because I was too busy scrapping, chatting, and eating!

Above is a card and below are the layouts I created…much more progress than last years 4 or 5! I took a break in between layouts to get the most fabulous FREE 1 hour massage (which I won at last years crop). That’s partly why I go! To get that massage!

Usually when I come home from a crop my mojo is flowing….this year was no exception, here are a few more layouts I created once I was home and hadn’t even upacked!!

Deep Fried OREOS

This past summer my family and I went to a Renaissance Festival and at this festival I experienced DEEP FRIED OREOS! I’d never knew such a delicacy existed! They made them to order HOT and fresh sprinkled with powdered sugar! I kept saying I was going to give it a try but I thought they’d be too difficult to make at home- NOT. You need five ingredients (well 6 if you count the water needed to make the pancake batter)

I googled “fried Oreo recipe” and found this recipe at Allfoods.com one of the reviewers suggested just using pancake batter! Hey I’m all for quick and easy.

I poured vegetable oil in sauce pan and heated until it was around 350 degrees. Takes about 10-15 minutes.

Dip the Oreos in the pancake batter

I got this egg separator from my days as a Pampered Chef consultant, I’ve only ever used it to separate eggs-look what else it can do!

YUMMY!!! The cookie becomes soft and the icing in the middle melts a little and I love the little bit of crunch from the pancake! I thought about trying fried marshmallow’s-Maybe next time.

I made whole bag of Oreo’s and shared with two neighbors and a coworker.

Camping for Dummies

A couple of weekends ago I, along with my Co-leader took our troop on an overnight training called-Camping for Dummies. Where I earned my camp certification and the girl’s learned camping skills and safety.

Bell Manor @ Camp Conowingo

Camp Conowingo is 600 acres of forest and fields adjacent to the Susquehanna River in Conowingo, Maryland and is the home of Bell Manor, a historic Victorian home from the 1860’s. Camp Conowingo is the home of Girl Scouts of Central Maryland’s summer Resident Camp program.

Tah Dah!!!! We used the Box Oven that I posted about a couple of weeks ago to make brownies for dinner and then again in the morning to make biscuits! It worked GREAT!

First we had to get the coals hot, we accomplished this by using a #10 can or empty paint can with holes at the bottom. Fill with newspaper and coals. It took about 20 minutes for the coals to be ready.

This coming weekend my Girl Scout troop and I are attending a Camping for Dummies overnight training. I will earn my Adult camp certification and the girls will learn camp safety. This will prepare us to venture out on our own camping trip later this year (O-Boy!). In preparation for the training we had to gather A TON of supplies and make a few. When the trainers first explained the box oven to me I had an AhHa moment. Ever been in the middle of baking something in your oven and POOF! the power goes out? Well I have! With this box oven you can cook ANYTHING you’d make in a regular oven: cakes, brownies, casseroles, even a turkey! I watched this video prepared by our camp trainers. I’ll have to get back to you on the how to use the Box Oven…I haven’t used mine yet but I will share when I do!

Materials: 1 Copy Paper Box

1 roll masking tape or blue painters tape

1 roll HEAVY DUTY Reynolds wrap

Stick tape all over the box (even the bottom)

Measure out your foil length wise so the there is an overlap on either side. Making sure shiny side is up.

Fold the foil around the box to make creases in the foil.

Fold the foil along all four creases

Place the foil carefully in the box and begin to unfold. Smoothing out the foil along the bottom and sides of the box to making sure to eliminate the any air pockets.

Unfold the foil completely up the inside of the box and down the outsides.

Add more tape to bottom & sides to apply a layer of foil to the shorter width of the box.

Fold the foil the same as the first layer, put it in the box and smooth up the sides. Then tape the entire inside of the box and add 2 more layers length and width across the box. This will give you a total of 4 layers.

The finished project should resemble this! Tape around the outside of the box to hold the foil down. To use the oven we are going to use four aluminum cans to hold the baking pan up away from the charcoals. I’ll post a video or pics to show how this is done!

Slumber Party-Hollywood Style

This past Saturday 2/19 my Munchkin turned 11 years old! I’m still trying to wrap my head around that. We started planning her party back in December. She decided she wanted a slumber party with a celebrity/super star theme. So I told her to go research and bring me her ideas. WOW! She came back with a 6 page written plan for her party that included: game ideas, food ideas , diagrams, invitation & goody bag illustrations, and websites for decorations…she had it all planned out!

We got some cool ideas from this blog!

She chose Silver,Black, and Gold for the colors after finding these decorations at Partycity.com

She’d done a Google search to get ideas on how to set up for the party and found these "Popcorn" cupcakes. Too cute, it’s not really Popcorn on top it’s mini marshmallows that you cut cross-wise and spray with yellow food coloring or Wilton Color Mist in Yellow.

This cupcake wrapper was made with my new favorite Cricut Accessory – Make The Cut software. I LOVE MTC! I will probably never buy another cartridge again! I used Stickles to outline & fill in the stars and 11.

Most of the decorations I got either on sale, with coupons or at the $1 store!

For the goody bags,I bought plain black paper sacks from Michael’s. I traced and cut out the star shape then glued cut pieces of page protectors inside the bag. I LOVE to embellish so I used a paper trimmer to make the loops on the top of the bag. Munchkin cut out little stars to glue on the outsides and the clapboard tags were made with……….YUP MTC! So was the clapboard on the balloon center piece and the front door.

The party was hit, the girls had a fun, there was pillow fighting, boy talk, movie watching, whip cream smearing, a hi fashion show and they designed their own T-shirts. They were 10 girls in all and they were all very well behaved.

The Pookie Doo has started planning her 7th birthday with a Pinkalicious theme! Her Bday is in September so this is going to be FUN! My orders were, “Mommy, EVERYTHING has to just be PINK!”

*Sigh* I love planning parties!

Snow!

I watched for weeks as other city’s in other states around MD got slammed with it. While here in MD we’d gotten a light dusting or two. Until this day! I wasn’t hoping for record breaking snow fall, just enough to maybe cause the base to close for a day so I could go out with my girls and play. It did snow but I still had to go to work. Which isn’t that bad considering my job is right next door. I didn’t have an excuse! School’s closed so the girls stayed home with Daddy.

My Favorite Hot Sandwich

You may remember the post about My Favorite Sandwich . Well the ooey gooey, crunchy, warm delicousness you are viewing in the photo below is my my favorite HOT sandwich!

Do you need a napkin, your drooling! It doesn’t have an official name, we just call it a hot sandwich. It is so good on a cold day with a cup of soup. But not only is it ridiculously delicious it’s also super easy to make!

In my opinion what makes these sandwiches soooooo yummy is the sour dough bread and BBQ sauce. And I will tell you, you can’t just put any ole’ BBQ on there. I only use the Sweet Baby Ray’s Hickory and Brown Sugar Sauce. Other’s seem to ketchupy (yes, that’s a word!)

Red Felt Roses {Tutorial}

It’s all most Valentine’s Day! No, I’m not a real big fan of the day but it does inspire cool crafts and scrapbook LOs. Here is a SUPER EASY tutorial for felt flowers. I’ve made them before. CLICK HERE to see them.

You’ll need to cut your material into squares, then pick corner and start cutting around and round. Leaving a nickle to quarter sized piece in the middle.

You can make wavy edges for a different effect. I don’t have piking sheers but I bet they’d be cool to use! Once your done cutting, start rolling. Starting from the outside in….roll, roll, roll…

Now smack on a big dollup of glue…gahead don’t be scurd!

Fold the rolled part over to the center and let it dry for about an hour and you’ll have a beautiful flower. Playing with the edges and width of the cut will give you a different flower. I plan to turn these into a hair accessory for Pookie Doo. Maybe to hair ties or a headband! I’ll be sure to post a pic so you can see!

Hey there friends! Just wanted to share a layout I completed with the Christmas Card photo shoot pictures.Materials used: Echo Park-Everybody Loves Christmas. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Echo Park’s Paper collections. They are so bright and whimsical with lots of color and cute stickers.

This LO was fun to create, I haven’t done a 2-pager in a LONG time! But I really wanted to include a lot of the pictures.

This page has a bunch of embellishments: Pom Poms, a real candycane, border punching, bows, sticker accents, felt hearts. and pearls.

The journaling was done on my computer using Word.

Something to scrap about!

If you’ve been reading my blog you know my Mommy was here over the holidays! It’s almost become tradition that she’s here (wherever that may be: Alaska, Texas, Maryland) with us for either Christmas or New Years. This time she bought with her some pretty scrap papers she found at TJ Maxx. I think she picked up mostly because it had a lot of pink which is her favorite color. But it just happened to work out perfectly for a photo of her I’d planned to scrap. Papers used were:Fiskers Cloud 9 Design circa 2007. Love the gray and pink shades. I enhanced the flowers and paper with Stickles and Glossy Accents. I used DCWV The mini scalloped textured cardstock stack. And of course my new favorite embellishment, swirly pearls!

Here is a close up of the embellishments. I haven’t written in the journaling yet, I have to figure out how to shorten what I want to say. I love those word stickers that came with the kit. This page came together super quick because it was a kit and everything coordinated!

Here is a LO of my beautiful daughters last year at Christmas time. I used My Minds Eye Wonderful Winter Glittered Christmas Papers. I finally dusted off my Cricut and used her to cut out the snowflakes.

Here in the close up you can kind of see the stickles I added to the snowflakes to give them sparkle! Looking at these photo’s and looking at them now. The Pookie Doo has grown taller, thinner (her squishiness is fading) and too smart for her own good. The Munchkin has also grown taller, wiser and more confident. Watching them grow is so bittersweet.

The REAL Scooby-Doo!

My five year old Lab, Sampson will do ANYTHING for a treat! Trying to get him to budge without the promise of a treat is pretty much useless. If he get’s loose show him a treat he’ll turn right back around. Bath & brushing time? Show him a bone he’ll sit as long as you need. Don’t believe? See for yourself! The REAL Scooby-Doo.

How fun is this photo, I used Picnik to add the lights and make his nose red. But I had to bribe him to wear the antlers.

His eye’s are fixed on the bone my daughter is holding.

One last holiday craft post!

Hello friends…I am soooooo excited for this Christmas my Mom will be here as well as Favorite Son Jamel and the best part is, the girls have no clue.I love surprises! So before the business of having company ensues here’s one more holiday craft post. I saw this Pottery Barn inspired Noel sign on a couple of different blog in the blogosphere. I loved it and it’s super easy to make your own! But I don’t really go for the rustic look, I LOVE sparkle and shine. So here’s my version of the sameproject.

I got the letters from Joann’s on sale for $1 OFF each letter so I think they were $1-2 each. Should’ve gone bigger but I wasn’t sure what I was gonna do with them at the time.

In the inspiration post she used brown paint, I used black-didn’t have brown but it worked out really nice.

I LOVE this stuff! Did you know there is a blog all about Mod Podge, I like the glossy shinny look and this does the trick!Just slop it on and it dries clear

I Really wanted frames that were 8 x 8 but I didn’t have time to make them or go out to get them so I settled for these from Target for now. They were about $2 each!

So that I can reuse the frame for something else once I get the frames I’d really like-I used Velcro so that it’s not so permanent.

It looks so small in that space-I might make a bigger one and give this one a new home, I am definitely going to make a similar one (someday but with the letters SNOW).

Holiday Traditions

Do you have holiday traditions that you follow each and every year? Until it was bought to my attention by The Munchkin, I didn’t consider the things we do traditions. This year after Black Friday (my favorite holiday BTW) I was running on fumes…but as Munchkin reminded me, “We always put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving, it’s TRADITION”. So after giving it some thought we do have a pretty good list of traditions, here are some of ours:

Tree & Indoor decor go up the day after Thanksgiving

Well I dunno if you call this a tradition but at the commissary they carry flavored Egg Nog each year we buy probably buy 6-8 cartons of Pumpkin and Gingerbread Flavor.

I leave the house at zero-dark thirty to shop on Black Friday not to be seen again by my family until sometime Saturday afternoon. (did I mention this is my favorite holiday?) photo taken from google image search for Black Friday

Outdoor decorations go up Sat/Sunday after Thanksgiving. We also hop in the car on Christmas Eve, the girls in the PJ’s with thermos’s full of hot chocolate and tour the neighborhoods looking at the lights. This is NOT my house, which it were. Image taken from Google Image search.

Cookies for Santa! This year we’re making Candy Cane shaped one…OFCOURSE I’ll be blogging’ about them!

Oh yeah and my favorite Christmas Tradition is one I stole from my friend Pam in Alaska. Instead of Christmas Dinner…..we opt for Christmas Brunch! We have pancakes, waffles, grits, omelets, biscuits n gravy, sausage, bacon, doughnuts, muffins, fruit, OJ, and hash browns. The girls love it!Picture taken from Google Image search

Bokeh…well “bokeh-ish”

Last year I sat drooling and dreamy eyed in front of my computer staring at this post by Amanda over at KevinandAmanda.com. I love her blog: food, fashion, photography, giveaways, traveling, srapbooking did I say food?. OKay back to BOKEH.. First I had to get my fancy shamancy camera. In Amandas blog as well as others I looked at they used a 50 mm lens or an 85 mm lens. Well I dodn’t have either so I had to make do what it do baby! Take a look.

I used my 18-55mm that came with the camera so now you see why I say bokeh-ish! But I’am on the right track!

I followed the directions on Amanda’s blog using a flower and heart shape. I attached it to my lens set in manual mode.

This last one was done without the shape cover. It’s so pretty-ful! (yes that’is a word!)

Capturing the “Perfect” Christmas Card Photo

Capturing the perfect Christmas card photo is on a lot of folks “to do” list and it was on mind until I decided to let the girls take control. In the past we’ve sent out a Family newsletter but now thanks to Facebook and the fact that we live on the east coast (Texas & Alaska previously) and see our family more often, I opted for a simple picture card. Plus I’d gotten some on clearance during last year’s after holidays sales! **I HEART SALES**

This is the photo they chose to go on the Christmas Cards this year! Yeah, I know most often people want a “perfect” photo with everyone dressed and sitting pretty. But they begged for a goofy, silly, funny photo and I had too much fun shooting them. I’ve learned that if I let them just be themselves and pose at will I get much better cooperation and at least one “perfect” shot.

This one was a close 2nd.

Here’s the “perfect” one I would have chosen. They said it’s too BORING!

So with all of that I’m glad my girls chose the silly photo. You never know one the receivers may be having a bad day only to open the card and have a good giggle to lift their spirits a little.

Ornament Wreath

I have wanted one of these for a while now but either could not find the right colors like this one or did not want to shell out the big bucks for one at The Home Depot for $69.00! So I did a little “googling” and found many tutorials I found this one and then I came across this cute blog and another one but I cannot find it now. FOUND IT!

The instructions said to use felt but I didn’t have any so I used an old t-shirt and cut it into strips wrapped it around the wreath and secured it with large safety pins. All of these items I all ready had on hand-Yup! Yup!

I bought at least 10-12 containers of different sized red and silver ornaments from the dollar tree…You can really get in trouble in that place. You think oh, it’s only a buck, I’ll take one of those and one those and at check out you’ve managed to put $50 worth of “one of those” in your cart! YIKES!!

I glued and glued, it took two late nights but I got it done and I am sooooo happy with the results. It perfectly matches my Christmas décor which BTW is red, white, & silver. I collect snowmen too (more on that later).

O’ Christmas Tree

This year putting up and decorating the tree was a BREEZE! Wanna know why? Well cause I only hung the extra red lights and the girls did the rest. You should have seen them…singing Christmas songs, breaking glass ornaments, laughing and giggling, almost knocking over the tree. It was fun to watch them. Though I wanted too, I Ieft the tree just as they designed it gaps, overcrowding and all!

Our tree is a faux prelit tree we’ve had now for 3 years….for the firs 9 we had a GIGANTIC faux tree that was my families, being a military family living in tiny quarters most of the I could only put 1/ 2 the tree or the whole thing and leave off the back bottom branch’s. SMH.

I got this tree from JCP for a steal…yawl know I’m ~~cheap~~ frugal! LOL It’s a 7.5 foot pre-lit tree and I love it…it goes together in 3 pieces!!

My husband got this train about 6-7 years ago,it’s really cool the little smock stack puffs out little clouds of real smoke and it toot’s and everything. (Please ignore the ugly tree skirt…it matched my theme of red, white & silver. I keep wanting to replace it and hopefully this year after Christmas I’ll find a good deal.

I adore all of the handmade ornaments the girls have contributed to our lil tree. The one with Ryene’s name on it is from Gramma ( I know that’s not how you spell it but that’s how they pronounce it, you don’t hear an “n”) We gotta get Erynn one too!

I LOVE this frame ornament and the people in it.

My ahh ha! Moment.

Last night while as I was thinking of ways to redecorate my bedroom and dinning room, I had an ahh ha moment. Being a military family we move around ALOT, really every 3 or so years. Some families even more. Any MW (military wife) will tell your one of our moving frustrations is we'll buy beautiful new furniture and home decor only to have it scratched, dented, or completely destroyed or even worse it disappears by careless movers. I was looking in my kitchen dinning area thinking what type of table do I want to buy to replace what I have in there. Then, as I so often do thought "you know what I'ma wait until we move or get setteled because I don't want it to get damaged in the next more". No sooner than that thought left my head another one entered: "Paint the one you have now!" AHHH HA! GENIUS! I don't why I didn't think of it sooner. It makes perfect sense. So sooner hopefully rather than later I will have a new kitchen table set. Only I'd like have different chairs....so off to craigslist.com I go, if not there I'll see what I can find a few of my local thrift stores! Wish me luck!

Christmas Tutu-torial

This year the girls are both going to participate in the local Christmas Parade with out Girl Scout troops. The is Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. Ryene is going to be an elf. But Erynn…..she wants to be a doll…but not just any doll…she wants to be Christmas Barbie! Yes, I know Barbie was not in the story but there were dolls, right!? Well to turn her into Christmas Barbie I remembered a Tutu worn by one of the little girls where I work that her Mom had made…super super cute and sooooo easy! Wanna see?
You’ll need: 3 yards of tulle, each a different color
2-4 spools of Ribbon (one to make the belt, the others to add to the tutu)
Bells or buttons to embellish

Fold tulle long ways in thirds and begin cutting 2” strips. Repeat for other two yards.

To measure for the belt, I tied it around her waist and made a bow then cut from the end of the bow.
Untie the bow and where it meets tie a not on either end of the ribbon, this is to hold the tulle on.
Now you can cut your tulle strip in half or fold it in 1/2 and tie it to the belt ribbon you’ll have to cut one end because it will be a loop. I thought this gave it more fluff.

Keep tying the tulle onto the belt ribbon until the desired look is achieved or you run out of tulle. I wanted the EXTRA fluffy look so I kept on tying.
Add your extra ribbon, bells or other embellishments and tie the NOW Tutu skirt around your daughter with a bow. You may have to space the tulle out evenly along the belt to fill in spaces and gaps.

And there you have a quick, easy, Christmas Tutu! I will be so cute once I she’s wearing a coordinating outfit and I found a bow in the Target $1 bin to match.

Chocolate Chocolate Peppermint Chip Cookies

I’m very excited about these cookies, one because they are soooooo YUMMY and two because I made them up! Yup, this is my first official blog recipe that I, myself created! Christmas is coming up and we always make cookies for Santa and we wanted something a little different, these Peppermint chips by Andes are just the ticket.

Couldn’t resist using my muffin top pan to make a giant sized version-Oh yeah!

Chocolate Chocolate Peppermint Chip Cookies (my own recipe!)
2 C Light Brown Sugar
1 C Sugar
2 Sticks Butter (Softened)
1TBS Vanilla Extract
2 Eggs
3 1/4 All Purpose Flour
3/4 Tsp. Baking Soda
3/4 Tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 C Chocolate Chips
1/2 C Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1/2 C White Chocolate Chips
1 C Andes Peppermint Crunch Baking Chips
Preheat Oven to 350 degrees.
In mixer, mix together butter and sugars until blended well. Add vanilla and eggs.
In separate bowl mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, & salt
Slowly add dry ingredients to sugar mixture.
Add in all three chocolate chips and stir with a spoon.
Pour Peppermint Chips in shallow bowl or plate
Scoop out a ball of cookie dough, press the top of ball into peppermint chips and set it on the cookie sheet with the peppermint side up.
Bake 10-12 minutes…you want them to come out still a tad gooey. Remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack to cool.
**Or if you’re like me put them on a plate and scraff em down with milk while they are still hot!

Mint Cookie Fluffed Cupcakes

When I made the Fluffer-Oreo Birthday Boy Cupcakes by Jenny. I shared a few with my dear friend and Girl Scout Co-leader. She loved them and talked about them for months. So I planned to make her a full dozen for her bday! BUT because we are girl scouts and it’s cookie season I thought I’d put my own twist on Jenny's recipe.

I followed her recipe but instead of Oreo cookies, I used thin mint cookies and garnished with Andes Mint Candies. Ryene pointed out they are the same ones they give you at Olive garden after dinner.

I used about 1 1/2 sleeves of cookies in the reciepe. 1/2 crushed and added to the mixture the other ones were used in the layering. It’s so hard to resist tasting the mix…but I’m afraid of raw eggs so nope uh-uh!

Layer cake mix, cookie, fluff, cake mix. Homemade cream cheese frosting is sooooo good on these. Just mix I stick of butter, 12 oz. of cream cheese and add powered sugar until you get the desired consistency.

Garnish with a mint for extra mint taste and Viola! ENJOY with a big ole cold glass of milk! Oh and BTW I made a 8x8 cake with the other 1/2 of the batter…but sorry I don’t have photos my family inhaled it while I delivered my friend her cupcakes.

This month is my Mommy’s birthday! I NEVER know what to get her and she never tells me what she’d like. We both LOVE The Cheesecake Factory’s cheesecake so I thought I’ll send her a gift card to zip over to Barnes & Noble and get herself a slice.

Here I used the same collection to make a card for my cousin who is expecting her fist child, who is a boy. I am very excited for her and Ryene and I had too much fun shopping for the gift. Being that this is her first baby I thought she should be welcomed into the “da Hood” :Motherhood: I know, genius0-Right?!

Yesterday I got to get out right after work and have a “photo shoot” with the girls. Usually I have to bribe them to pose and smile BUT not on this day, they were directing me. I played around with my camera settings and learned a bit!

Gonna figure out why she’s so grainy…I set the aperture low to get the leaves to look blurry-got that part right.

Edited this so they were blurry on purpose to put the focus on the pretty leaf.

I love those shots of kids running looking like their having the time of their life!

Just sharing a couple of photos of the girls from this past weekend! I love fall and Halloween-fun times!
I love Picnik photo editing website! You can actually use most of the editing tools for free and if you wanna be extra fancy you can upgrade for about $25/year1 I thought it was a pretty good deal. I'm just getting my feet wet in the DSLR world and photo editing arena so as a beginner it's great to learn with. I like that it has little bubbles that pop up to tell you how the different applications effect your photo.
If you don't all ready use Picnik, go over and check them out! It's pretty awesome!

SOCCER SATURDAYS

Since mid September I've all but one saturday hollering for the APG Arsenal Soccer U12 Soccer Team which The Munchkin is on. Before the first game I kinda dreaded that we'd committed EVERY saturday from September to October to Soccer! But it has been so much fun. I take a chair to sit in, I start out there but end up down on the sideline. I don't know SQUAT about soccer, ok let me go back I know that if the ball goes in the net it's called a goal. But other than that-CLUELESS! This is Munchkin's first year playing ANY sport and I am so excited and proud of her. She's made a lot of progress since the beginning of the year. She plays defense and loves it because she doesn't have too much running to do. Since getting my new camera telephoto lens I'v beem trying to get some good shots of the team on the field- I got more googling to do. Some are blurry, the color is off, or sometimes the clicker won't click! Yes, I said clicker-stop laughing! Anyway thank goodness for editing so you don't pay to close attention to the picture quality.

It took a lot of restraint for me not to rush the field to check on my baby!
The ball had hit her in the eye-she recovered quickly with no bruises.

This weekend we took a quick trip down to NC to see my step-son play football. We stayed with my Gran Gran who lives about 25 minutes from him. So it was a triple-treat couple of days, we visited with family, ate some goooood southern food, and watched a good football game.

Lil PINK & White Desk Re-finished

My Lil E, LOVES herself some PINK! Any time she gets a choice of which color she wants for an item if it comes in pink-she always choosed pink. Well we've been hunting for a desk for her room for a while now. At first I was thinking of a old skool class room desk like this, I'd paint it pink ofcourse. Then I thought that was to small so I went looking online and found this desk at walmart and thought it wouuld be PERFECT! Well I put off ordering it for whatever reason. The Hubbs was off one Friday and happened upon a yard sale where he found the cutest little desk for $5! I couldn't believe it-either.
So here are the before and afters.

All I did was sand it down so that there was no shine. This was impossible on the back of the hutch section so I went to my local Home Depot Store and instead of spray paint. I bought a 1 quart of the pink in a semi-gloss and 1 gallon of rhe white paint in a satin WITH primer in it! **genius**

(thought it was clever to paint the inside of the drawers pink)

It's a little more expensive but I'm a Lazy Crafter. I like stuff done quick & easy. So I painted the pink first, taped it off with blue tape then painted the white.

I also changed out the knobs it had long fat wooden ones I thouht these little round ones were cuter. This was my first time re painting a large piece of furniture and now I'm hooked...next on the list...the rest of the girls' room furniture, dinning set, and lawn chairs!

Total desk redo cost around $50!

Camera Evolution

I've always LOVED taking pictures..not necessarily of myself but of friends, family, places & things. I remember buying the disposable 35mm camera's as early as 5th grade. In high school my Mom gave me my first non-disposable 35mm...I wore that poor camera out and the people at the Wal-Mart & Winn-Dixie photo processing centers knew me by name! I remember filling out the envelop dropping my little roll in anxiously waiting 5-7 days for my pictures to come back. I was THRILLED when next day service came about. Then Winn-Dixie opened the1-hour processing and I could get different sized photos. I'd hang a sheet on my closet door, grab the desk lamps from my brother and my room for lighting and have my brother take pictures.....HILARIOUS now thinking back. This was my camera back then.....

That camera lasted me through the birth of my first child. I'd dropped it so much I had to duct tape the battery door closed!

This was my very 1st digital camera...I remember buying it in Alaska @ the PX it was around $250. I was so excited that I could just snap away then go back and delete the bad photos and only develop the ones I wanted. It was an expensive buy for me but I thought it was worth it because I'd save a ton on film developing. I took pictures EVERYDAY so the35mm was expensive!

Now belongs to my oldest daughter and still takes great photos

Digital Camera's started getting smaller and with larger screens so after about 6 years I decided I needed an upgrade. I loved my first Kodak so I stuck with them and bought this one

My husband thinks this will be his camera but this is gonna be my purse camera (hehehe)

Got this one from Target for around $175...I loved that it was small and has an automatic lens cover. It fit in my coat pocket or my small purse..great for when we are at amusement parks. I also liked the larger screen 2".

My scrapbooking hobby led me to want better pictures and the ability to try different techniques not possible with a point n shoot. So I began the process of shopping for a DSLR camera....GOOD GOO those things are pricey! My first thought was I'll stick with what I got shoooooot!

I changed my mind a million times, I researched, price compared, tested them in store, read countless consumer reviews and decided I wanted the Canon EOS Rebel T1i. What sealed the deal is my dad has the same camera & I was able to play around with his during a recent visit where I shot this photo...

NEVER can get a good shot of him until....this one!

That was it! I had to have this camera, I saved and constantly priced checked then on 10/3/2010 I place the order..she arrived that following Friday and we've been inseparable ever since!

$75 Curtain Rod for less than $15!!!!!! TUTORIAL

You read right! I've lived in this house for a year and I've been waiting for these curtains rods to go on sale and use a coupon to get them even cheaper but I keep missing it. "see them here" at JCP. I googled around the web and got the idea to make them from PVC PIPE! I was like why didn't I think of that?

What you'll need:

PVC Pipe (my window measured 120" or 10' so I went with the 10' pvc)

Spray Paint for Plastics
2 PVC end caps
Wall Mount Brackets (I got them on CLEARANCE @ Home Depot-SWEET!)
Finials (on clearance too!)

The pole is easy...I sprayed on 3-4 coats. Let it try til it's no longer tacky to the touch.

I didn't have to spray the finials in this case they matched. I sprayed the end caps

Rather than hot glue finials to the pipe, I opted for a less permanent fix. I drilled a hole in the top of pvc pipe end cap.

Then simply screwed the finial onto the cap.

Attach the finial/cap to the end to the pipe,

hang your curtain rod using the curtain rod brackets and....

BAM! You got yourself a beautiful, cheap, nobody can tell the difference curtain rod!

This took maybe 2 hours only because of drying time.

Now I gotta buy some shears OR make some! :0)

Ruffled Camera Strap Slipcover Tutorial

I love anything that can be customized. Especially if I can do it myself! When I decided to buy my new DSLR Camera I knew I had to have a cutesy tootsey camera strap. The one that it comes with is wayyyyy to BORING! I love pinks, ruffles, flowers....okay you get the point I'ma girly girl! HA!

One Sunday night while The Hubbs watched football I sat down and made my slipcover. I was a little nervous because I've only used my sewing maching on to sew stitches on paper. So anyways here's what I made...my first but certainly not my last RUFFLED CAMERA STRAP SLIPCOVER:

Here's what I used:

2-3 different pieces of fabric at least 1/2 yard

sewing machine

pins

ruler & measuring tape

iron & ironing board

cardstock

camera strap

Here's what I did:

Measure your camera strap.

I measured the length and width then added 1" to each. So measurements were 25" x 2.75"

Fold the ends over 1/4" and press to help hem stay

Make sure your hem's match so that your two strips of fabric remain the same length. Sew and back stitch the beginning and ends.

Use a ruler and measure 1/4" in from the edges, You should have 2" in the middle

Sew one end of the two pieces together. It's helpful to pin the fabric together so that it doesn't slip around while your sewing. Back stitch the beginning and end.

Next cut your fabric to ruffled. This will need to be double the length of your strap. I cut a 42"x 1.75" strip.

Next I stitched a zigzag hem on my ruffle fabric. With the top of the fabric up so the zigzag shows. Then sew a basting stitch down the middle of your ruffle fabric. Pin one end to the base fabric and pull the strings at the end to make the fabric "ruffle"

here you will need to play with the ruffles to get them even

Pin the fabric down and sew a stitch down the middle

**TAHDAH!**

These fabric roses came from my scrapbook stash I just hand stitched them on.

Next I pined my ruffle over towards the middle of the fabric to avoid catching in the stitch (good idea but then it was hard to get the pins out form the inside-got pricked about 6 times! OUCH!)

Fold the to loose ends together, you will be looking at the underside of your fabric, sew a line all the way down. Back stitch the beginning and end.

AND VIOLA! Once you flip the fabric from inside out you get this!

I must have been bitten by a HUGE create bug this week. My glue gun was smokin'! I orginally got inspiriation from a good friend of mine whose starting her own paper crafting business (more on that later). Halloween is coming up and I LOVE all of the cool crafts and yummy treats that go along with this holiday. I've come across some really cool crafty blogs like: How Does She? Crafts by Amanda The Idea Room amazingly talented ladies. I got all of the following ideas from these sites. Check them out!

I've been wanting a wreath for my door but I wanted to be a Halloweeny/Fall theme (yes, halloweeny is a word) couldn't find one so I made one.

I all ready had the wreath, all of the added items came from Michaels, I made the spider web with hot glue. I made the whole thing in one evening!

Also while blog hopping I came across a post the said: Perfect chocolate-chip-cookies No-way, WHAT?! Really?! Perfect huh? Well I'll to see about that......

OMG!! They were so...... well, PERFECT! They baked up perfectly, taste perfect and super easy to make. The recipe called for *melted* butter, I'd never heard of sucha thing! But maybe that is the secret to this PERFECT cookie!

I made two dozen and had a little batter left over so I created these....

GIANT chocolate-chip Snickers Cookies

using my current favorite baking pan the Muffin Top Pan. I haven't made a muffin top yet, but it's great for giant cookies! One of these was so scrumptious with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge and dallop of whip cream! YUMMMM...

Like I said I got a HUGE bite by the creative bug....So I created a couple of other crafts. When my oldest was little I'd always make custom hairbows to match her dresses. Then I learned to braid and haven't created a hairbow in years until now..................

Erynn is gonna be so CUTE with these on her puffy balls hairdo!

The next little craft was just so cute I had to try it. Mason Jar luminaries!

There are a ton of different ways to make them, but I used acrylic paint, clear glossy spray laquer, & mod podge.

A birthday girl and her cupcake

Earlier this month was my DD's birthday. On the day of we celebrated at home with decorations and CUPCAKES. These cupcakes were soooooo delicious and fun to make. Recipe and picutres are courtesy of Jenny. I couldn wait to make these for my birthday girl.

She was so excited when she saw cupcakes rather than the traditional cake for her birthday.

They are so yummy, marshmellow fluf and oreo cookies inside the cupcake ( you can stop drooling now).

Also just as yummy is the Dear Lizzy line from American Crafts. I got it a while back and wanted to use it but couldn't make up my mind how. Well after I got these pictures of my silly little one, I knew exactly which pp's I'd be using.

I also used the cricut graphically speaking cart to make the 6's.

A cellphone! I got my 10 year old a cellphone a couple of weeks ago. She's been asking and trying to give me reasons as to why she would need one since she was about 8. Last year her school put her and her sister on the wrong bus (long story) but I nor they had any clue where my children were for about 45 minutes! If she'd had a cellphone then she coulda called. Well I got an offer in the mail thru my wireless service to get a free phone, free shipping, free activation. So I thought let's get her a phone. Her reaction when she recieved it was hilarious...she shouted, she danced, she hugged, she kissed, she lost her breath, etc. Ofcourse I had my camera handy to capture the joy.

You know what , I haven't scrapped in a coon's age (heard that on tv-lol). Well it's seemed like forever! School started, girlscouts kicked up again, soccer, dance....and that leaves VERY little time for scrappin'. Not to mention, being exhausted I had no motivation to scrap or inspiration until I was cleaning and organizing my area and I came across my Echo Park Sweet Summertime collection. Now when this line was released I drooled over it. I thought it was such a horrible crime to leave such pretty pretty paper uncut or glued! So yesterday night I got crackin' and let me tell you it felt goooooooood! FINALLY I got a LO done! Here's what I came up with. Using picutres of my silly girls the morning of Erynn's 6th Bday.

I've been seeing these cute banners on tons of LOs since earlier this year and I've been anxious to do my own. Also those paper curls add such a cute element to the page. The quote I used is, "literal". Before Erynn came along Ryene would beg and pleade for a baby sister, well she got her wish but sometimes as lil sisters do, Erynn can be a lil pesky and when Ryene comes to complain I reminder she asked for her! Erynn always co-signs my statement.

Hello friends..I've had a crazy busy work week which hasn't allowed me time or energy to scrap. But I had to do something to relax and create so I baked up a STORM! I managed to finish a LO I'd started a week ago too!

LO of my beautiful daughter. We were looking for sunglasses and she picked up these because she liked the red frames. The sales man talked her into getting them calling them, "personality glasses". I did think they made her look very studious and mature.

Hello friends! So not only do I love scrapbooking, but I also love to cook and bake. I get a ton of recipes from Jenny @ Picky-Palate. This women has some serious skills in the kitchen. I frequent her site because she is sure to have a new ooey gooey dessert recipe that includes CHOCOLATE! Today I made her Ice Cream Sundae 4 Layer Chocolate Cake. There was a lot of mmmmmming and eye rolling going on during dsessert today.

This cake is SUPER easy and fast to make. Jenny used chocolate shaving's as on the outside of the cake but took a short cut and used chocolate chip frosting this time.

I don't have a sister and so if it's true we always want what we can't have, I've always wished I'd had a sister. Preferably an older sister from whom I could borrow clothes, would do my hair and give me advice.
Luckily my little E has one. R is the best big sister I know. She looks out for E and I love to hear her giving her advice on friendships when they think I can't hear them. Most every night since Munchkin learned to read she's read her little sister a bedtime or anytime story or two. I love when E brings home drawings from school or daycare of her and her big sister, there are always hearts and the words, "I love my sister".

I sure wish it had a been Dwayne "Tooth Fairy" Johnson! But no such luck. LOL Anyway, last night both of my girls lost a tooth. For E it was her first so we had to celebrate. R has had the tooth dangling around in there for about a week and finally let me snatch it because she didn't want to be outdone by her little sister. Amongst all of the excitement I forgot to check and see if the the "toothfairy" had any cash! Well she didn't. First response was panic and then trying to rationalize going to Wal-Mart at 11 pm to get cash. Luckily the Fairy side kick had cash-problem solved. E hasn't fallen asleep so fast in such a long time!

But lucky for me I have one, well a few actually but today I'm scrapped about one. Her name is Tina. We met back in 05 when I moved to TX by of military PCS move. I decided to open a home daycare and she was assigned as my mentor! LUCKY ME! She's an awesome provider, who had tons of experience and patience. On top of that she was a Creative Memories consultant. In no time I was at her kitchen table any given Sunday, country music playing in the background ( I don't usually listen to country) and brownies on the snack table. I sure do miss be able to hop in the car and head over to her house for a crop. But hopefully we'll be able to scrap together again soon oneday.

I was also looking to use Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl and these paper fit perfect. I couldn't resist adding in little Crate Papers Paper Doll accents. That line is my current favorite. I also did what I call EXTREME stitching. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn ou since it was my first time using the thick thread but I like it! Hope you do too!

Earlier this year my little E got a mild ear infection and was prescribed antibiotics, so she had to stay home from school the following day. She was a little bummed so I decided to take her for her first PEDICURE! She had a blast and I was kicking myself for forgetting to bring my camera. Her nail tech treated her like a little princess, it was so cute. They gave her a water in a little goblet and wrapped up her hair like she was at a spa. Well I didn't get before or during pictures but I did get after pics! I knew exactily which papers I'd be using for this LO. Crate Papers: Paper Dolls, these papers had to be made with E in mind ;0). THANK YOU TEACHERS!!!

At the end of every year I always like to give my daughters' teachers a little gift to show my apprection for all they've done during the year. This year I had a little bit of a problem. My oldest had a male teacher for the first time! He is one of those teachers that REALLY takes time to get to know each student and can really give parents helpful insight into how to better help your child. He challenged R to go above and beyond instead of letting her get away with doing good enough! Towards the end of the year we found out he'd be taking a job at a different school as the math coach. He'll be teaching other teacher's how to teach their students math. In addition to the girls teacher's I had to especially thank the school nurse. My youngest has asthma and since we moved here to MD it hasn't been well controlled. I feared I'd have to quit my job to be more available for her. But Ms.Shipley was amazing. She went exceeded any expectations I had and looked out for my baby while she was at school and called me if there were any concerns. Thank goodness she'll be there next year!
